Position Description:
As a Leicestershire based prototyping department inspection Technician, you will play a crucial role in the production process working alongside our Clients skilled team of engineers carrying out quality inspections of one-off and limited runs of prototype components. In addition, you will aid the wider team in the development of new models of motorbikes to bring to the global market. Your expertise in all aspects of measuring techniques and 3D print technology along with excellent attention to detail will ensure the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications including standard engineering codes and symbols.
- Set up and operate a variety of general measuring instruments, also arm type measuring/scanning equipment, knowledge of CMM machines etc.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required to maintain optimal operation and ensure product quality.
- Knowledge of all material parameters, heat treatment activities, surface finish requirements, calibration, auditing (internal and external) and GD&T experience.
- To conduct routine maintenance and inspection of machinery ensuring the machines are kept clean and in optimal working condition minimising downtime.
- Knowledge of all 3D printing activities like FDM, SLA, SLS and also metal printing activities like MJP, DMLS etc.
- Produce components to precise specifications and tolerances ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Keep accurate records of operations and materials used.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in measurement and 3D print technology to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Monitor and maintain material stock relevant to this role and submit re-order requests.
- Ability to work confidently and independently with attention to detail.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BTEC or equivalent in engineering.
- Formal engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Experience in all types of inspection activities.
- Knowledge of all 3D printing activities.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of all general measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of scanning and arm type instruments.
- Knowledge of CMM and hardness measurement.
- Experience in quality control activities.
- Knowledge of all 3D printing activities.
